DFX, DFMEA, PFMEA

The tools DFX (Design for Excellence), DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) serve to augment the quality and reliability of a product when it is in the design and manufacturing stages. Here at Reliability Quality Solution, we apply these methodologies to mitigate risks before they affect the product with the integrating approach of defining the design impact on cost factors. DFX is concerned with the optimizing of designs for expense, performance, and ease of manufacturability. DFMEA works toward defining design issues which are likely to result in failure and addressing those issues at the earliest possible time in the development cycle. Likewise, PFMEA analyzes processes and focuses on identifying possible failures in production which helps in the attainment of lower defect levels, greater efficiency, and improved operational outcomes. Performing DFX analysis alongside the two other methods allows us to help our clients strategize better while ensuring the final product meets customer satisfaction and business profitability benchmarks.
